Autumn Finds
.
H found these old Print Type boxes at the dump, and so he fished them out and brought them home. I've painted one an off white and Hector and I spent Saturday afternoon filling it with shells and sea glass. At the moment it's resting on our bookcase, but I'm sure we will find a home for it soon.
Autumn is most definitely here isn't it? I saw it in the change of light as I took Hector to school and I can feel it now with the darkening evening outside. Summer is wonderful, but this is the season I love above all others. It's the time for brisk walks, conkers, fires and slippers (must get some new ones) hot pots and early nights, rainbowed hydrangeas, good books and jam on bread with real butter. The salty kind.

That is the best thrifty find I've seen in ages.
Salty butter. Mmm.
What a lucky dump find!
I have council-tip-find envy! You are very lucky to find those and to be allowed to bring them home too - the guys at our tip won't let people take a thing!
Autumn has certainly arrived - much cooler and I'm wearing my ridiculously large fluffy slippers. I love it all and look forward to the colours appearing over the coming weeks,

Fab finds, lucky you!
Lovely finds! And I totally agree, I love the autumn light and the cosiness that lays ahead.
I love those boxes - what a find!
Sorry Laura, but Autumn soon loses its charm for me: much prefer wearing t-shirts than coats and scarves!
I love the old boxes . . . and all of your photos. Simple and elegant.
Thank you for such lovely comments, but I can't quite believe some of you don't like this time of year! Kirsty and Francesca I will think of you like two little bears now. L x
Great finds Laura, top marks to H! I love our recycling centres, we are very lucky to have them there.
I'm so jealous of your finds! Well done...and I love what you've done with them too. Hope all is well.
